The central student government of Ateneo de Manila University on Tuesday voted against endorsing a grassroots petition for a student-led strike against the government’s “criminal negligence” during times of calamity starting Nov. 18. The Ateneo Sanggunian’s Central Assembly voted 7-2 against the petition calling to withhold all academic submissions until the government gets its act together. Several student organizations believed a strike within a private university might not exert pressure on the national government. —Krixia Subingsubing
