BAGUIO CITY — Saying “all soldiers watch that their leaders do,” Air Force Major General Ferdinand Cartujano assumed command of the Philippine Military Academy on Monday.
Cartujano was appointed to the post after the retirement of his predecessor, Vice Admiral Allan Ferdinand Cusi, who was hailed for keeping the premiere military school safe from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Cusi had taken over the academy in the middle of the controversial hazing death of Cadet Fourth Class Darwin Dormitorio last year. He led reforms in how cadet activities would be monitored by the school’s military instructors.
Cartujano said he would need the support of the community and the alumni in removing maltreatment at the PMA.
