Teen boy shoots brother dead
A 16-year-old boy in Tabogon town, northern Cebu, shot dead his younger brother who played a practical joke on him by sending him text messages to set up a bogus date with a girl.
The younger brother died of a gunshot wound in the head.
Filled with remorse, the young shooter was taken into custody and turned over to social workers.
Police said the 16-year-old boy was upset when he found out that text messages he received were actually from his brother, who had pretended to be a girl.
The “textmate” asked to meet him on a date.
The 16-year-old boy went to the place where they were supposed to meet but no one showed up.
The boy went home, found his brother eating in the kitchen and shot him with a .38 revolver, said police. /CORRESPONDENT GABRIEL C. BONJOC
