Valenzuela City extends P6M financial aid to typhoon victims in Bicol

PILI, Camarines Sur — Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, along with Valenzuela City Congressman Wes Gatchalian, Vice Mayor Lorie Borja and Councilor Rovin Feliciano, was in this town Sunday to extend help to the typhoon victims in Bicol region.

Their team turned over P6 million financial assistance from the budget of the city of Valenzuela to provincial governors and town mayors in the three Bicol provinces of Catanduanes, Albay, and Camarines Sur which were greatly hit by typhoon Rolly (Goni) and Ulysses (Vamco). The provincial governments will be getting P2 million each.

Senator Gatchalian also made rounds in Catanduanes and Albay Sunday morning to assess the aftermath of the typhoons and check on how the residents were coping.

He emphasized that “disaster response and recovery should also entail public health protocols.”

Rolly hit Bicol on Nov. 1 while Ulysses poured intense rains over the region on Wednesday.
