WATCH: Garbage collectors in Mandaluyong play in the flood

MANILA, Philippines — No matter how severe the situation is, one can expect Filipinos to find something to smile, or laugh, about.

A group of garbage collectors in Mandaluyong playing in floodwater provides a light moment for people in the area amid the deluge of problems facing the country.

In a video, the three garbage collectors showed their playful side and enjoyed the heavy rains and even the knee-deep floods brought about by Typhoon Ulysses.

Mandaluyong is one the low-lying cities in the east zone of Metro Manila, along with Marikina and Pasig.

But while it seemed that the garbage collectors were having fun wading in the floods, medical experts warned people to avoid doing so unless necessary, as it may result into several waterborne diseases like leptospirosis — which originates from the bacteria-infected urine of rats.
