Boy from Bacolod City dies from COVID-19 complications

BACOLOD CITY –– A one-year-old boy from this provincial capital of Negros Occidental died due to complications caused by the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Bacolod City Administrator Em Ang said the boy is the youngest coronavirus fatality in this city.

Ang, the executive director of the Bacolod Emergency Operations Center, said it remained unknown where the baby contracted the disease.

The baby, she said, had diarrhea for several days, prompting his parents to bring him to the hospital on Nov. 5.

Two days after, the boy died due to “severe dehydration, diarrhea, and septic shock.”

Ang said the baby was tested for COVID-19 and was found positive for the disease.

The boy belonged to an extended family of 13 members.

His father, grandfather, and uncle also tested positive for COVID-19 and are now in an isolation facility in the city.
