LUCENA CITY –– Three motorcycle riders and a bystander died in three separate road mishaps in this city and Tiaong town in Quezon province on Thursday and early Friday, police said.
The Quezon police reported that a village watchman, Wilfredo Oreta, 63, died on the spot after he was hit by a wayward Suzuki Ertiga wagon while standing in front of the village outpost in Barangay Kanlurang Mayao at 12:15 a.m. Friday.
The police said Mark Lennon Losloso lost control of his vehicle causing him to hit a fire hydrant before he fatally bumped Oreta.
Earlier, Kumar Manjit, 36, an Indian national, also died on the spot after the motorcycle he was driving collided with an oncoming truck driven by Philip Abdula along the diversion road in Barangay Domoit, Lucena City at 6:15 p.m. Thursday.
The police reported that based on the CCTV footage, Manjit occupied the opposite lane that resulted in the collision.
In Tiaong town, motorcycle driver Aldrich Mendoza, 29, and his pillion rider, Joel Delos Reyes, 41, were negotiating the Maharlika Highway when their vehicle reportedly swerved to the opposite lane and consequently hit the right side of an oncoming truck driven by Alger Garcia, 40.
Delos Reyes died on the spot while Mendoza expired on the way to the hospital, police said.
