Earthquakes sway Masbate province

LEGAZPI CITY –– Successive quakes with magnitudes 3 and 3.9 jolted Masbate province on Friday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said.

The quake of tectonic origin first struck at 8:10 a.m. 25 kilometers north and 25 degrees west of Cataingan. It was followed by another jolt at 8:17 a.m. 28 km north 27 degrees west of the same town.

Phivolcs seismic instrument recorded that the light quakes, with a depth from 24 km and 21 km, respectively, were felt at Cataingan.

No damages were reported, according to Phivolcs.
