LEGAZPI CITY—The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) in Bicol has reported one fatality and three persons missing after Typhoon Ulysses dumped heavy rain in the region.
The OCD report said Avelino Cabanela, 68, was found dead on the roof of his house at the village of Bagasbas in the capital town of Daet, Camarines Norte, where severe flooding has been reported.
Lt. Col. Chito Oyardo, chief of the Daet police, said the report on Cabanela was sent to police around 2 p.m. on Wednesday (Nov. 11) and he was brought to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Department of Interior and Local Government said it was still checking the cause of death.

A number of residents in Daet had to be rescued from their flooded homes late on Wednesday.
The Daet municipal disaster risk reduction management office (MDRRMO) posted on its Facebook page around 9:30 p.m. photos of the rescue operation at the village of Mancruz in Daet.
At least three families, two babies and four children among them, had been brought to safety.
In the town of Vinzons, residents Bobby Roderick Masaya, 19; Jessy Boy Alvarez, 33; and Roland Alvarez, 48, were reported missing at the village of Pinagtigasan, according to the OCD report.
The residents were last seen on Nov. 8.
