MANILA, Philippines — The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group will be conducting a parallel investigation on several cases of robbery and molestation of female dentists in the National Capital Region and Bulacan, a police official said Thursday.
CIDG’s Women and Children Protection Division chief Superintendent Emma Libunao said that they were coordinating with police from Bulacan and NCR on separate incidents wherein dentists, and their attendants were robbed and molested inside their clinics.
She stated that they were checking with investigators CCTV footage taken from some of the clinics, and descriptions of the suspect given by the victims.
“We are not taking over (the cases). This is a parallel investigation (that) we are doing,” Libunao stressed.
Earlier this week, National Capital Region Police Office director Chief Superintendent Alan Purisima said that they had a “good lead” on the incidents, but could not divulge details until they had caught the suspect.
He said that the suspect may be “mentally ill.” He added that robbery was only second in the suspect’s goals, and that “sexual satisfaction” was his primary motivation in the attacks.
The NCRPO chief also urged anyone who believes that they may have fallen victim to the “emerging modus operandi” to come forward with information.
