MANILA, Philippines — Parts of the Bicol Region may start feeling Tropical Storm Ulysses’ strong winds and rain by Wednesday morning, the state weather bureau said.
Forecasts from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Tuesday afternoon showed that even Metro Manila and portions of Southern Luzon will experience the same conditions by afternoon.
Areas in the North will also have strong winds and rain, but it will be due to the tail end of a cold front, according to Pagasa, adding that the trough of Ulysses will likewise bring rain over the Visayas while Mindanao is predicted to see a generally fair Wednesday.
Pagasa said cold weather may persist due to present conditions, with temperatures over Legazpi and Tacloban going down to around 24°C to 29°C, Tuguegarao with 22°C to 27°C, Metro Manila with 24°C to 30°C, and Laoag and Tagaytay up to 28°C.
In the Visayas, Iloilo and Cebu will have temperatures ranging from 24°C to 31°C while in Mindanao, Davao will feel it around 24°C to 33°C, Zamboanga at 25°C to 33°C, and Cagayan de Oro at 24°C to 32°C.
The entire seaboard of Northern Luzon was placed under a gale warning due to the northeast monsoon or amihan. A similar warning was also raised over seaboards of Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, Bicol Region, and Eastern Visayas.
According to Pagasa, sea conditions will be rough to very rough because of Ulysses and the prevailing amihan.
Ulysses was last seen 375 kilometers northeast of Virac, Catanduanes. Pagasa said that it may progress as a typhoon before hitting the Bicol Region or Quezon province on Wednesday.
