MANILA, Philippines — The country’s new coronavirus disease case count is close to reaching the 400,000-mark after the Department of Health (DOH) recorded additional 2,058 infections.
According to DOH’s update, the new COVID-19 cases increased the nationwide tally to 398,449 as of November 9. Of this sum, 7.3% or 29,018 are tagged as “active.”
The health agency also said 182 more patients recovered from the disease caused by the latest coronavirus strain, SARS-CoV-2, while 52 others died, respectively boosting total recoveries to 361,784 and the death toll to 7,647.
Rizal province posted the most number of new infections with 103 new COVID-19 cases, DOH said, trailed by Davao with 81, Maguindanao with 81, Quezon City with 77, and Cavite with 76.
DOH likewise said it removed from the total four duplicates, including three cases of recoveries. It added that 33 cases previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as death.
