PNP gets new equipment worth P1.2B

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) has acquired over P1.2 billion worth of assets and equipment as part of its modernization program.

The new assets and equipment include 11 shuttle buses, 22 high-speed tactical watercraft and 355 4×2 patrol jeeps. Also acquired were 5,767 Galil assault rifles and 214 new handheld radios.

Yu said the vehicles and equipment cost P1.22 billion and were funded by the PNP Capability Enhancement Programs for 2019 and 2020.

PNP chief Camilo Pancratius Cascolan said the shuttle buses would be sent to police regional offices.

The PNP Maritime Group and PNP Special Action Force will receive the 22 high-speed tactical watercraft for use in patrol and anticriminality operations along coastal waters.

Municipal police stations will receive the 355 patrol jeeps.

The PNP also got P8.7 million vehicles donated by the Armed Forces and Police Mutual Benefit Association Inc., specifically two units of Toyota Coaster and one Nissan Urvan NV350.
