Nurse’s coronavirus infection suspends full operations of Cadiz birthing home

BACOLOD CITY—A nurse of the city government’s birthing home in the City of Cadiz, Negros Occidental province had been infected with coronavirus, prompting the facility to suspend some services.

Dr. Maria Victoria Ibañez, Cadiz health officer, said outpatient consultations were suspended  until further notice.

“Only emergency cases and deliveries will be catered to,” she said.
Many birthing staff members, who had interactions with the nurse, would be tested for the virus and sent to quarantine.

Cadiz Mayor Salvador Escalante said it was not known yet how the nurse contracted SARS Cov2, the virus that causes COVID-19 and is transmitted by humans.

This is the third time services at the facility had been suspended after two cases involving another health worker and a patient.

Cadiz City currently has recorded 330 COVID-19 cases.
