Magnitude 3.8 earthquake hits Surigao Del Norte town

MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 3.8 earthquake struck waters off Santa Monica, Surigao Del Norte on Thursday morning, state seismologists said.

In its initial earthquake bulletin, Phivolcs said the tremor was reported at 10:37 a.m. with its epicenter spotted at 32 kilometers northwest of Santa Monica, in Surigao Del Norte province.

The earthquake, which was of tectonic origin, had a depth of 25 kilometers, Phivolcs also noted.

There are no expected damage and aftershocks from the quake, Phivolcs said.
