BACOLOD CITY—The provincial government of Negros Occidental is reopening a recreation site in the city—provincial capitol park and lagoon—starting on Saturday (Nov. 7) but subject to health protocols.
The park was ordered closed to the public by Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson last March to prevent mass gatherings that could spread SARS Cov2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
The governor said guidelines on the implementation of community quarantines nationwide now allow indoor and outdoor non-contact sports and exercises, which would help in the physical and mental well-being of the people of the province.
Lacson listed these health protocols in reopening the park, however:
- Number of people in the park should be limited to 50 at any given time
- People entering the park would be checked for fever, required to log in and wash hands
- Distancing and wearing of face masks and shields are required
- Events and parties are not allowed
- Only persons aged 18 to 65 would be allowed in the park
- Exercises should be limited to walking and jogging. Group exercises are limited to only three people
Lacson designated the provincial government’s safety and security division as enforcer of the health protocols at the park.
