BACOLOD CITY—The councilor with the most votes in the last elections took over as vice mayor of Binalbagan town, Negros Occidental on Tuesday (Nov. 3) hours after Vice Mayor Samuel Gavaran died of illness on Monday (Nov. 2).

Ursecio Inodeo took his oath as new vice mayor before Judge Leticia Bon-Trigue, of the Municipal Trial Court, at the Binalbagan Convention Hall.

Mayor Alejandro Mirasol, of Binalbagan, said the late vice mayor had been suffering from a kidney disease.

“It’s all so sudden but we need to have a vice mayor,” Mirasol said.

“Let us continue working despite the challenges our town is facing. As we continue to mourn, let us keep moving forward,“ he added.

Mirasol thanked Gavaran for his service and love for Binalbagan, and for being one of the best leaders the town had.

“Gavaran was a true down to earth leader and a friend to everybody,” the mayor said.
