MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte might have a public address on Monday should authorities allow his plane leave Davao City for Metro Manila, Malacañang said Monday.
“Ang sabi po sa akin ni Senator Bong Go, depending on whether or not they can fly back to Manila, e baka nga po mag-address ang Pangulo sa taumbayan mamayang hapon muli,” presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said in a televised briefing.
(Senator Bong Go told me that depending on whether or not they can fly back to Manila, the President might address the nation this afternoon.)
“Then again, we will have to wait for confirmation dahil depende po yan whether or not the authorities would allow the President’s plane to take off for Manila,” he added.
Roque added that members of the Cabinet will undergo a polymerase chain reaction COVID-19 test prior to meeting the President.
On Sunday, the hashtag #NasaanAngPangulo topped the Philippines’ trending topic list as erstwhile Super Typhoon Rolly slammed Bicol region and Southern Luzon.
Duterte was absent at the televised briefing on the government’s typhoon response.
But Roque had assured that the President was closely monitoring all developments of the typhoon from Davao City.
