SAN PEDRO CITY—Power was cut, rivers overflowed and unleashed flooding in the island province of Marinduque at the height of Typhoon Rolly.
Photos shared online by residents, who are still reeling from the damage left behind by Typhoon Quinta, showed several houses and vehicles in the town of Sta. Cruz submerged in water.

Farms and residential areas in the towns of Mogpog and Boac were also flooded.
Rino Labay, provincial disaster risk reduction and management officer, said in a phone interview that the power outage also disrupted communications.
At least 1,555 families, or 5,056 individuals, had moved to government shelters before Rolly slammed into the island, Labay said.
The province began to feel the effects of Rolly around 2 p.m. when rains and winds became stronger, according to Labay.
Boac River overflowed because of heavy rainfall while excess water in another river in Sta. Cruz town brought flooding to the villages of Tawiran and Lapu-Lapu.
Labay said rains started to weaken and floods subsided by 5 p.m.
