MANILA, Philippines — Several mall chains either opted to stay closed or close early on Sunday as Typhoon Rolly battered parts of the Philippines.
Araneta City’s Gateway Mall, Ali Mall, and Farmers Plaza were closed but select essential establishments will remain open.
All Ayala Malls within Metro Manila, Laguna, Cavite, Pampanga, Zambales, and Albay also opted to close due to the typhoon.
But some of its essential stores remain open to the public. The complete list of stores can be accessed here.
SM Supermalls in Luzon closed early at 1 p.m. except for its supermarkets.
It also welcomed anyone who wished to seek temporary shelter in its malls. SM also waived overnight parking charges.
Several Vista Malls likewise closed at 1 p.m. while its supermarkets will remain open until 3 p.m. Vista Mall also offered its establishment as temporary shelter for the public.
Meanwhile, Robinsons malls in Metro Manila, Central Luzon and Southern Luzon closed earlier at 12 noon.
Megaworld Lifestyle Malls will also shorten the operating hours of some of its establishments to 4 p.m. due to the typhoon.
