Signal No. 4 up in Catanduanes, east of Camarines Sur as Rolly threatens Bicol

MANILA, Philippines — Catanduanes and the eastern portion of Camarines Sur are now under Tropical Cyclone Weather Signal (TCWS) No. 4 as Typhoon Rolly threatens Bicol Region, state weathermen said Saturday.

Based on its 8 p.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Signal No. 4 is hoisted over Catanduanes and the eastern portion of Camarines Sur (Siruma, Tinambac, Goa, Lagonoy, San Jose, Garchitorena, Presentacion, Caramoan).

Areas classified under Signal No. 4 will expect very intense typhoon and winds of greater than 171 kilometers per hour (kph) up to 220 kph in at least 12 hours.

Meanwhile, Signal No. 3, which will experience winds of 121 kph to 170 kph in at least 18 hours, is raised over the following areas:

Signal No. 2 is hoisted over the following areas:

Areas under Signal No. 2 may experience winds of greater than 61 kilometers per hour (kph) and up to 120 kph for at least 24 hours.

Pagasa also reported these areas under Signal No. 1:

Rolly is packing maximum sustained winds of up to 215 kph near the center and gusts of up to 265 kph.

Rolly, moving west-southwestward of 20 kph, was last spotted at 7 p.m. at 280 kilometers east of northeast of Virac, Catanduanes.
