MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.2 earthquake rocked parts of Northern Samar on Saturday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The earthquake struck at 4:32 a.m. 23 kilometers southeast of Mapanas town.
The tremor was of tectonic origin and had a one-kilometer depth of focus.
Phivolcs said aftershocks and damage to infrastructure are not expected.
