IAS says summary proceedings set for cop tagged in Parojinog sexual abuse
MANILA, Philippines — The police officer, who was relieved over an alleged sexual assault against detained former Ozamiz Vice Mayor Nova Parojinog, will soon face summary dismissal proceedings for criminal complaints, Philippine National Police (PNP) Internal Affairs Service (IAS) said Wednesday.
IAS chief Attorney Alfegar Triambulo said Police Lieutenant Colonel Jigger Noceda, former PNP Custodial Unit chief, would be summoned to respond to sexual allegations and immediately face summary proceedings.
“Bukas padadalhan ng summon si Lt. Col. Noceda para sumagot ng kanyang asunto within 5 days. After that maghearing a presentation of evidence. Tapos e resolve na ang kaso at ipadala kay CPNP [PNP chief Police General Camilo Cascolan] for a decision,” Triambulo said in a text message when sought for updates on Noceda’s case.
Triambulo noted that they are eyeing to finish the summary dismissal proceedings for 15 days if there are “no delays.”
Possible cases to be filed are acts of lasciviousness, rape, and abuse of detainee, unjust vexation, and conduct unbecoming a police officer.
Triambulo said after they finished the pre-charge investigation against Noceda, the IAS’ Legal Affairs Division would oversee the summary hearings.
