MANILA, Philippines — The death toll from the devastation caused by Typhoon Quinta (international name: Molave) has increased to nine (9), the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Wednesday.
Seven of those killed were from the Mimaropa region while the two others were from Central Visayas.
Six people were injured and two remained missing because of the typhoon, the NDRRMC also said in its report.
The number of people affected has reached 209,457 persons or 49,557 families in 787 barangays in parts of Luzon and Visayas. Of these, 48,817 persons or 12,223 families took shelter in evacuation centers.

So far, damage to agriculture and infrastructure in parts of Luzon and Visayas was estimated at P429.73 million, according to NDRRMC, adding that most of the destruction was reported in Calabarzon with P369.29 million.
Another weather disturbance is expected to intensify into a typhoon later in the week, state meteorologists have said. The weather bureau said it could affect the Bicol region or Eastern Visayas.
