OMB needs to deputize work to stamp out piracy

/ 05:12 PM January 27, 2012

MANILA, Philippines—Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo on Friday suggested that the Optical Media Board deputize its work to effectively implement measures against piracy.

He told reporters at a press briefing that government agencies needed to unite against piracy and suggested that the OMB deputize its work to ensure that establishments selling pirated goods were stamped out for good.

The DILG official said that such a measure would ensure a stronger campaign against piracy, pointing out his observation that stalls and establishments peddling pirated goods such as DVDs and VCDs were only caught during raids conducted by the OMB.
