Sea travel in Western Visayas halted due to Typhoon ‘Quinta’

ILOILO CITY — Trips of sea vessels in Western Visayas were suspended on Monday due to heavy rains and strong winds brought by Typhoon “Quinta.”

Work in provincial government offices in Antique was also suspended except those in critical offices.

The Coast Guard suspended trips of motorboats plying between the Caticlan jetty port and Boracay Island in Malay town in Aklan in the morning. Trips were allowed at 3 p.m. but only until 6 p.m.

Trips of vessels from the Caticlan port to Batangas, Mindoro, and Romblon were also suspended.

The Coast Guard Iloilo Station also suspended trips of motor boats plying between Iloilo City and Guimaras Island.

In Roxas City in Capiz, trips from the Culasi port to Batangas port were also suspended.

Areas in northern Panay, including the provinces of Capiz and Aklan and northern Antique and northern Iloilo, were among those under Storm Signal No. 1.
