SAN PEDRO CITY — A yacht anchored off Bauan, Batangas sank due to the strong sea current as Typhoon “Quinta” continued to lash Southern Luzon, early on Monday.
One person went missing, while the seven other crew members of MV Oceanic Explorer were rescued, said Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) district commander in Southern Tagalog Tito Alvin Andal.
In an incident report, the PCG said the yacht was anchored about 0.5 nautical miles off Keppel Shipyard in Barangay San Roque, Bauan, when it submerged around 7 a.m., Monday.
“Search and rescue is still ongoing,” Andal said in a phone interview.
