Ipo Dam to release water as water level rises due to Typhoon Quinta

MANILA, Philippines — Ipo Dam in Norzagaray, Bulacan, will be releasing water at 12:00 a.m. Monday amid the continuous increase of its water level due to rainfall dumped by typhoon Quinta.

As of 8 p.m., the water level at Ipo Dam is at 101.06 meters, slightly above its 101-meter normal high water level, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

“IPO Dam management will conduct spilling operation at 12:00 am with an initial approximate discharge of 47 cms,” Pagasa said in an advisory.

Residents living along low-lying areas and those near the river banks of Angat River from Norzagaray, Angat, San Rafael, Bustos, Baliuag, Pulilan, Plaridel, and Hagonoy are advised to take precautionary measures and be alert for a possible increase in water level.

Quinta made its first landfall at 6:10 p.m. over San Miguel Island, Tabaco City, Albay. This was followed by a second landfall over Malinao, Albay at 6:50 p.m.
