1-year-old-girl drowns in Negros Occidental creek

BACOLOD CITY — A 1-year-old girl drowned in a creek near her house in Barangay Guinpana-an, Moises Padilla town, Negros Occidental at about 8 a.m. on Sunday.

According to Reynald Horegue, head of the Moises Padilla Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Princess Joy Eustañio was left in the care of her 8-year-old sibling who briefly left her unattended.

When the older sibling returned, the baby was nowhere to be found.

Horegue said his team and barangay officials immediately started a search for the girl whose body was found in the creek.

“It was not raining but the current was strong, he said.
