Pre-marriage counseling session in Makati goes online

MANILA, Philippines — The Makati City government has rolled out an online pre-marriage counseling service to keep partners safe from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic as they comply with a requirement in the application of their marriage licenses.

“With this latest online service of City Hall, our constituents who wish to get married need not go out of their homes to comply with a prerequisite to the marriage license application,” Mayor Abby Binay said in a statement on Friday.

“We intend to continuously innovate and reinvent our systems and processes. In these uncertain times, we must always be a step ahead to remain responsive to the needs of our constituents, and be able to provide quality services even during a crisis,” the mayor added.

Makati Social Welfare Department (MSWD) records showed that physical sessions only require a maximum of four couples to prevent mass gathering while there is still the threat of COVID-19.

With online counseling, the MSWD can accommodate a maximum of 15 couples per session.

Those interested in online counseling may contact the MSWD Family and Men’s Welfare Section at 8870-1644 and provide their email address and contact information.
