Western Visayas task force suspends arrival of stranded persons in 2 Negros Occidental cities

BACOLOD CITY –– The Western Visayas Regional Inter-Agency Task Force (RIATF) has approved the suspension of the arrival of locally stranded individuals (LSIs) in two cities in Negros Occidental starting Friday, Oct. 23.

RIATF head secretariat Christian Nagaynay said officials of Victorias City sent a letter on Oct. 13 asking for a seven-day moratorium on the arrival of LSIs to allow them to decongest, disinfect, and prepare their quarantine facilities for the incoming LSIs.

San Carlos City also made a similar request on Oct. 18, seeking a 14-day moratorium on the arrival of LSIs in the city.

The RIATF granted the requests and ordered the suspension of the arrival of LSIs to Victorias City until Oct. 30 and San Carlos City until Nov. 6.

As of Wednesday, Victorias City has a total of 189 COVID-19 cases where 63 were active with four fatalities.

San Carlos City, on the other hand, has 165 confirmed cases, including 94 active cases with five deaths.
