UV makes SBP U-16 semis
THE REIGNING Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. juniors divisions champions University of the Visayas (UV) Baby Lancers barged into the semifinals as the top seed, following their 98-71 conquest over St. Clare at the end of the elimination round in the SBP National Under-16 Championships yesterday at the Eastern College Gym in Baguio City.
The Baby Lancers needed the help of the quotient system to secure the top ranking in the semifinals today.
UV lost to St. John’s Institute in overtime early in the week, 91-99, but SJI lost to La Union College of Nursing and Arts and Sciences, 78-84, yesterday at the Cordillera Career Development College in Benguet.
UV, St. John and LUCNAS finished the elimination with identical 4-1 (win-loss) cards, but UV and St. John earned playoff berths with quotients of 1.0294 and 1.0114, respectively, compared to LUCNAS’ 0.9567. Correspondent Jonas Panerio
