1,509 more COVID-19 infections boost PH tally to 362,243

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday reported 1,509 new cases of COVID-19, pushing the nationwide total to 362,243.

Of the sum caseload, 43,990 are tagged as “active” cases, according to DOH, adding that it also recorded 911 new recoveries and 60 additional fatalities, driving total recoveries to 311,506 and the death toll at 6,747.

DOH’s latest data also noted that 83 percent of the active cases were patients with mild symptoms, 11.6 percent were asymptomatic, 3.4 percent were critical and two percent were severe.

Rizal tops the list of areas with the most number of new cases with 83, trailed by Cavite with 82, the City of Manila with 66, Baguio City with 65, and Iloilo City with 57, the health agency added.

Once again, the DOH adjusted its COVID-19 statistics after the discovery of 41 duplicates, including 31 recoveries and three were deaths, that were subsequently removed from the total case count.

Further, DOH said there were 16 cases previously tagged as recoveries but later verified as deaths.
