Czech woman nabbed for fraud, embezzlement — BI

MANILA, Philippines — A Czech woman wanted in the Czech Republic for fraud and embezzlement was arrested in Makati City, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) reported Wednesday.

BI Commissioner Jaime Morente said 48-year old Eva Sorelova, who was added to the Interpol’s (International Police) alert list of wanted fugitives for her crimes, was arrested on October 15 at her house in Barangay Guadalupe Viejo by members of the bureau’s fugitive search unit (FSU).

“She will be deported for being undesirable and undocumented as her embassy confirmed that she does not hold a valid passport or travel document,” Morente said.

BI said Sorelova is the subject of two arrest warrants issued by a district court and a municipal court in Prague in the Czech Republic last July 28 and October 9, respectively, where she was indicted on charges of aggravated fraud and embezzlement.

Sorelova is presently detained at the BI warden facility in Taguig City pending issuance of the order  of deportation by the bureau’s board of commissioners.

She will also be placed on the immigration blacklist and banned from re-entering the Philippines.
