Quezon logs 3 more COVID-19 fatalities; death toll rises to 95

LUCENA CITY –– Three more fatalities of the dreaded coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were recorded in Quezon, bringing the death toll in the province to 95, authorities said.

The latest mortalities are from the island town of Quezon, municipality of Lopez and Lucena City, the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) reported in its 5 p.m. bulletin on Monday, Oct. 19. No details on the fatalities were given.

Of the 95 fatalities since the pandemic broke out in early March, at least 29 died between Oct. 1 and 19.

Quezon, which is still under modified general community quarantine status, has seen a continued spike of COVID-19 cases since August.

As of Tuesday morning, the IPHO logged 3,110 COVID-19 cases, of which 1,051 are active. The province recorded 1,964 recoveries.

Lucena, the capital city of the province, logged 800 COVID-19 cases; with 252 active and 27 fatalities, the highest tally among all municipalities in Quezon.

The city health office listed 521 recuperated patients.
