Bacolod City court sentences 2 drug suspects

BACOLOD CITY – A trial court judge has convicted two men who were arrested by policemen last year for separate drug offenses.

Judge Raymond Joseph Javier of the Regional Trial Court Branch 52 in Bacolod City found Jamil Equibal Recaido guilty of selling shabu (methamphetamine) in violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Recaido was sentenced to life imprisonment and mandated to pay a fine of P1.5 million.

The accused allegedly sold .0409 gram shabu to an undercover police officer on Nov. 6, 2019  in Purok Sigay, Barangay 2, Bacolod City.

Also arrested in the drug bust was Ronell Cawaling Dumali who was at the house of Recaido during the operation.

Dumali was also found guilty of possession of shabu and was sentenced to 12 years and eight months in jail as minimum to 17 years and eight months as maximum.

He was also ordered to pay a fine of P300,000.

The judge ordered the warden of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology Metro District Jail at Barangay Singcang-Airport in Bacolod City to immediately transfer Recaido and Dumali to the National Bilibid Prisons in Muntinlupa City.
