90 stranded mountaineers, bikers rescued in 2-day operation in Pampanga, Bulacan
FORT RAMON MAGSAYSAY, Palayan City—At least 90 mountaineers and bikers, who were stranded due to heavy rains, were rescued in a two-day operation by soldiers and policemen from the provinces of Pampanga and Bulacan, the Army said on Friday (Oct. 16).
Lt. Col. Felix Emeterio Valdez, chief of the 48th Infantry Division, said 36 of the stranded individuals were rescued from the outskirts of Floridablanca in Pampanga on Oct. 11. Five more were rescued in Lubao, also in Pampanga, and two from Calumpit in Bulacan.
Another 47 individuals, trapped in the bad weather, were rescued on Oct. 12 near the boundaries of Floridablanca in Pampanga and Subic in Zambales.
The rescued individuals had been fed and given first aid, according to the 7th ID information office.
