Benguet town police station closed after 6 officers infected with coronavirus

BAGUIO CITY—The municipal police station of Tublay town, Benguet province has been shut down since Thursday (Oct. 15) after six newly-detailed police officers tested positive for SARS Cov2, the virus that causes COVID-19, authorities said.

Mayor Armando Lauro issued an executive order to close the police station for disinfection and contact tracing.

Lauro said the closure will last “until further notice.”

The infected police officers had no symptoms and did not have histories of travel to infected places.

Issuance of travel permits and police clearances had been suspended following the cases of infection.
