MANILA, Philippines — There are now a total of 351,750 confirmed cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the Philippines as the Department of Health (DOH) reported on Friday 3,139 additional infections.

Most of the additional cases were from the National Capital Region (1,003 cases), Cavite (206), Rizal (175), Laguna (138), and Iloilo (126).

Of the additional infections, 2,023 or 64% occurred within the last two weeks. The top regions with cases in the past 14 days were NCR (621 or 31%), Region 4A (479 or 24%), and Region 6 (214 or 11%).

The DOH also announced 786 more survivors, bringing the total recoveries to 294,865, while there were 34 new fatalities, taking the country’s total death count to 6,531.

Excluding recoveries and deaths, 50,354 are active cases, of which 84.7% have mild symptoms, 10.8% are asymptomatic, 1.5% are severe cases, and 3.0% are in critical condition.

Active cases are patients who are still infected with COVID-19 and are staying in hospitals or are currently under quarantine.

There were 87 duplicate cases that were removed from the previous tally, including 74 tagged as recoveries.

“Moreover, eight cases previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths,” the DOH noted.
