LUCENA CITY –– Three more coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patients died in Quezon province on Thursday and Friday, authorities said.
In its 10 a.m. report Friday, the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) revealed that a COVID-19 patient died in Tiaong town.
On Thursday, two other COVID-19 patients from Lucena City and neighboring Pagbilao town also died.
No other details were given on the fatalities.
The COVID-19 death toll in Quezon rose to 89. At least 23 of them died from Oct. 1 to 16.
Quezon, which is still under modified general community quarantine, has been recording a continued spike of COVID-19 cases since August after the dreaded illness recorded 703 cases.
In September, the IPHO logged another 874 cases.
As of Friday morning, Quezon recorded 2,899 COVID-19 cases. At least 904 of them have contracted the virus from Oct. 1 to 16.
The province has 1,013 active virus carriers in different medical facilities and isolation centers.
The province recorded 1,797 recoveries.
Lucena, the capital city of the province, logged 765 COVID-19 cases; active virus carriers – 272; and fatalities – 26, the highest tally among all municipalities in the province.
