Korean fugitive recaptured in Makati City
MANILA, Philippines — Authorities have recaptured a Korean prisoner, who fleed from a detention cell inside the Southern Police District (SPD) Headquarters in Taguig City last October 10.
Lim Yeoung-jun, 36, was arrested by operatives of the Criminal Investigation Detection Group (CIDG) along Salamanca Street in Makati City on Tuesday afternoon following pursuit operations, according to a police report on Wednesday.
Lim and fellow Korean prisoner, Kwon Hyeok-soo, 39, over the weekend escaped from the custodial center of the SPD Headquarters after choking and hitting the duty jail officer with his issued firearm.
Based on a police report, Lim asked the duty jail officer to allow him to use the toilet. But as the detention cell’s door was opened, Lim attacked the jail officer.
Both Lim and Kwon reportedly locked up the jail officer before fleeing.
Kwon was recaptured at a construction site in Taguig City on Sunday, October 11.
