Muntinlupa City unveils 144-bed isolation facility for COVID-19 patients

MANILA, Philippines A new 144-bed quarantine facility in Muntinlupa opened Tuesday to accommodate COVID-19 patients in the city.

Muntinlupa Public Information chief officer Tez Navarro said in a statement that the new “We Heal as One” isolation facility, which costs P45 million, was built to help implement the local government unit’s mandatory self-isolation policy. It is located at Pacwood Site in Barangay Tunasan.

Navarro also said the COVID-19 beds are set up in 36 shipping containers that were converted into air-conditioned rooms equipped with toilet and beddings.

Residents who will be accommodated in the facility will receive a hygiene kit, vitamins and other medicine, among others.

Based on the city’s self-isolation policy, COVID-19 positive patients will be admitted to the facility if requirements for home quarantine are not met as certified by the City Health Office (CHO).

During the unveiling of the facility, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar said another quarantine facility with a 200-bed capacity will also be constructed in the Filinvest Tent Parking Area.

Aside from Villar, Department of Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade, and Muntinlupa Mayor Jaime Fresnedi attended the blessing of the quarantine facility on Tuesday.
