MANILA, Philippines — The low-pressure area (LPA) located east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar intensified into a tropical depression Tuesday afternoon, the weather bureau said.
In an advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the tropical depression will be named Ofel.
“At 2 PM today, the Low-Pressure Area east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar developed into Tropical Depression,” Pagasa said.
