LOOK: Velasco sits at Speaker’s rostrum at House for first time after election

MANILA, Philippines — Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco on Tuesday sat for the first time at the Speaker’s rostrum at the Batasang Pambansa Complex in Quezon City after his election as Speaker of the House of the  Representatives.

In photos from Diwa party-list Rep. Michael Aglipay taken and shared to the media, Velasco could be seen sitting at the rostrum, wearing a facemask and a face shield.

Prior to this, Velasco and his allies held a meeting at the Celebrity Sports Plaza to discuss the 2021 national budget.

On Monday, 186 lawmakers, in a session held outside the House elected Velasco as Speaker, unseating Alan Peter Cayetano.
