/ 03:23 PM October 12, 2020

MANILA, Philippines — All operations are suspended at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) after the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) raised a lightning red alert warning on Monday afternoon.

In an advisory, the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) said the weather bureau issued the red lightning alert at 2:40 p.m.

The alert is a safety measure aimed at preventing any untoward incident from happening when lightning flashes are prevalent in the immediate area.

Miaa said these flashes may endanger personnel, passengers, and even flight operations. — Miggy Dumlao, trainee
