TAGBILARAN CITY –– At least 17 families returned to their respective homes in this city on Monday morning, hours after they were evacuated due to heavy rains and flooding on Sunday night.

Gerard Lavadia, Tagbilaran City disaster risk reduction management officer, said the downpour flooded many areas in the city with water levels reaching knee to waist-deep.

The local government is still assessing the extent of damage as of press time.

The floods also washed away the rice harvest of some farmers in Carmen town.
