COVID-19 recoveries on Sunday at 17,057; active cases decrease to 39,945

MANILA, Philippines — The latest wave of recoveries reported by the Department of Health (DOH) was at 17,057, which brought down the number of active cases to 39,945 as of Sunday.

According to DOH’s COVID-19 data, there were 2,502 newly confirmed cases reported, placing the total number of infections at 339,341.  Meanwhile, the total number of recoveries is now at 293,075.

Sadly, another 83 deaths were recorded, bringing the death toll to 6,321.

Of the 39,945 active cases, around 83 percent experienced mild symptoms, while 11.2 percent were asymptomatic.  Another 1.8 percent meanwhile had severe symptoms, and 3.9 percent were in critical condition.

DOH said that 87 cases were removed from the case total after validation of duplicate entries.
