TAGBILARAN CITY –– A 2-year-old girl in Inabanga town in Bohol tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
In a statement, Inabanga Mayor Josephine Socorro Jumamoy said the child was a resident of Barangay Maria Rosario.
She said the child was admitted to the Francisco Dagohoy Memorial Hospital due to COVID-19 symptoms.
A swab sample was immediately taken but the child was discharged and sent home by the hospital on Thursday afternoon Oct. 8 before the results of her reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test were released.
On Thursday night, the Department of Health-Central Visayas informed Jumamoy that the child was positive for COVID-19.
Jumamoy immediately instructed the town’s medical team to transfer the child and her family from their home to the barangay isolation facility.
Contact-tracing was immediately conducted.
Jumamoy advised her constituents to strictly adhere to minimum public health standards such as regular washing of hands, wearing a face mask and face shield, observing physical distancing, and staying at home if there is nothing important to do outside.
As of Oct. 7, Bohol has 369 confirmed cases, of which 73 are active with 288 recoveries and eight deaths.
