Pasig River ferry resumes normal operations

MANILA, Philippines — The Pasig Ferry Service resumed its normal operations from Pinagbuhatan in Pasig to Escolta in Manila on Friday, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority announced.

“The Pasig River Ferry Service (PRFS) has resumed its normal operations today, October 9, to serve commuters in Metro Manila,” MMDA said. “Ferry boats will now operate from Pinagbuhatan in Pasig to Escolta in Manila.”

Ferry operations were suspended for a few days as water hyacinths blocked portions of the Pasig River.

On Thursday, the ferry service resumed partial operations for short trips only.

The ferry service reopened on August 3 after its operations were temporarily suspended in March due to the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine.

MMDA reminded that Ferry rides are still free of charge although passenger capacity is limited to 50 percent in accordance with physical distancing measures imposed to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
