Palace ‘humbled’ by Filipinos approval of gov’t COVID-19 response

MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang is “humbled” by the “positive opinion” of Filipinos on the response of the Duterte administration to the COVID-19 pandemic as claimed by a recent Pulse Asia survey.

The survey, conducted from Sept. 14 to 20, showed that 84% of Filipinos approve of the government’s action to control the spread of the new coronavirus disease and provide assistance to those who lost their jobs because of the pandemic.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said the survey results further inspire the government to work harder in fighting the ongoing health crisis.

“Pilipinas, maraming salamat po sa binigay ninyong tiwala na naman sa ating Presidente. Matapos po niyo po siyang bigyan ng 91% trust rating at 91% performance rating, 84 naman po ang binigay niyo sa handling ng coronavirus 19,”Roque said in a televised Palace press briefing Thursday.

“We are humbled and we are further inspired to serve the Filipino people in this time of pandemic. Maraming maraming salamat po,” he added.

The Philippines has the most number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Southeast Asia with 329,637 cases as of Oct. 7.

Of the total cases, 49,989 are active patients, 273,723 have recovered, while 5,925 have died.
